A point against Bournemouth is a solid result for any Premier League side at the moment, but with a win just moments away, it will still feel like a defeat for Leeds United.

Having conceded first, Leeds came from behind to score twice through Joe Rodon and Sean Longstaff. But with moments left to play, Eli Junior Kroupi netted a superb volley into the back of the Leeds net.

A hammer blow for a Leeds side that has already been on the receiving end of injury-time heartbreak this season, when Gabriel Gudmundsson inadvertently headed into the back of his own net at Fulham.

This was a really impressive and encouraging performance from Daniel Farke’s side. Two more goals from open play having managed just two in their first five league games, against a side pushing for Europe.

Sean Longstaff earns praise from Leeds players, current and old

Sean Longstaff has already produced a handful of impressive performances. Man of the match against Newcastle, the £15m summer signing was man of the match again as he laid on a goal and an assist.

Danny Murphy thinks Leeds have made the signing of the summer in Longstaff and on Saturday, it was easy to see why. Leeds fans were left in awe of their new no.8, as he strolled Elland Road to perfection.

Afterwards, he posted on Instagram, underlining his delight at scoring his first for Leeds: “A good point but we deserved more. Brilliant feeling to score my first goal at Elland Road in front of you all. MOT.”

Two man of the match awards and a blistering start to his Leeds career has got to have Thomas Tuchel keeping an eye, not just on Dominic Calvert-Lewin as Anton Stach suggests, but midfielder Longstaff, too.

Plenty were left impressed by Longstaff, who told Michael Oliver he’d “chin” him if he disallowed his goal. Kalvin Phillips, Largie Ramazani, Stuart Dallas, Noah Okafor and plenty of others commented on his post.

Longstaff is heeding Murphy’s claim and already making Newcastle’s decision to rubber-stamp a move, the wrong decision. Leeds have got themselves a gem in Longstaff, judging by his four league starts.
