Transfer expert Dean Jones has told Give Me Sport that Leeds United are close to signing Genk winger Joseph Paintsil alongside Joel Piroe and Nadiem Amiri – while a bid is now ready for Glen Kamara too.

Piroe, 24, is expected to complete a £12m move to Elland Road. Wales Online reporter Tom Coleman says the Dutchman’s representatives are on their way to the UK to thrash out a deal between parties.

Meanwhile, Germany star Amiri has performed a u-turn after Marseille pulled out. Daniel Farke is said to be a big admirer of Amiri. That has got a deal done – Kicker saying he will cost between £4.5m and £5m.

Leeds needed a no.10 and a striker – and the additions of Amiri and Piroe instantly improve our chances of promotion. But Jones says Leeds are not stopping there and are close to signing Genk star Paintsil.

The Ghana ace had a hand in a whopping in 32 goals last season – and Sky Sports say Leeds are keen on signing the Ghana star, for a bargain £8.5m. Jones says Leeds are close to signing Paintstil as well.

“Really key days for Leeds with a bid for Kamara ready to be lodged but other serious interest in players also stepped up. They are close to three that I know of. Those are Amiri, Piroe and Paintsil from Genk.

“I have it on good authority those are being worked on. Additional names being linked. It reflects upon the urgency Leeds are in to make sure the success of their business does not go down to deadline day.”

Wow. But this one is slightly more interesting, in that Leeds desperately needed a no.9 and have got Piroe. We really needed a no.10, and got Amiri. But why do Leeds need another winger this summer?

It looks as if Luis Sinisterra and Willy Gnonto are going to remain at Elland Road, with both now available to play against Ipswich on Saturday. Dan James, Cree Summerville and Ian Poveda are also options.

Summerville and Poveda are injured, but with five on the books – do Leeds really need Paintsil? He would be a stunning signing, but a left-back and another midfielder should be deemed more important.
