Wales Online reporter Tom Coleman claims the representatives of Swansea City striker Joel Piroe are flying into the UK later today in order to broker a deal between Leeds and our Championship rivals.
Piroe, 24, is set to join Leeds after Fabrizio Romano said the Dutch ace is on his way to West Yorkshire to undergo medical tests at Thorp Arch. The Daily Mail says the two clubs have agreed a £12m fee.
So, it seems Leeds have finally got their man and the club are set to sign a striker. Patrick Bamford and Mateo Joseph are injured. Georginio Rutter and Joe Gelhardt are not proper no.9’s. Piroe, certainly is.
Over the last two seasons, he has scored 44 goals in 92 games for the Welsh club following his move from PSV. But he only signed a three-year deal, and had entered the final year of his Swansea deal.
Now, Coleman offers more insight. He says that Piroe actually rejected a new contract at Swansea this week. The Wales Online man says Piroe’s agents are flying in today, with Piroe set to undergo a medical.
Piroe representatives flying into UK today to broker Leeds deal
What a day for us Leeds fans. One we have been craving for some time. The squad currently needs major surgery in the 10 role, up top, central midfield and left-back. Two of those areas are to be solved.
In comes Piroe up top, a wonderful signing – cheap-ish at £12m, after scoring goals at a ratio of one every two games. This season, he already has two goals in his four games. Nadiem Amiri is also joining.
The Bayer Leverkusen ace is also in his final year at the Bundesliga club. Leeds have agreed a move with the five-time Germany star, after an initial rejection. Two massive signings in our hunt for promotion.
