Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Nadiem Amiri has performed a major transfer ‘turnaround’ and is now close to joining Leeds United.
That is according to Sky in Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg, who says Amiri is now ‘very open’ to joining Leeds after initially rejecting the possibility.
It was reported by Plettenberg this morning that Amiri had turned down the chance to move to Elland Road amid interest from Marseille.

However, Marseille have been unable to reach an agreement with Leverkusen over a deal and Amiri is now, instead, set to move to Leeds.
It is said that manager Daniel Farke has played a key role in convincing Amiri to make the switch to the Whites, with the German a driving force behind the deal.
Amiri now set for Leeds after transfer U-turn
Considering Marseille’s interest, Amiri will represent a significant coup for Leeds having made over 200 appearances in the Bundesliga.
A deal is expected to be completed for a fee of around £4.5-£5 million and could follow Swansea City striker Joel Piroe through the door at Elland Road, who is set for a medical.

Amiri is a creative number 10 and could finally be about to replace the void left by Pablo Hernandez, who left all the way back in 2021.
Farke has confirmed signings are ‘not too far away’ at Leeds with both Amiri and Piroe likely to be the next two through the door.
It is unclear, though, whether the deal will be done in time for him to be available at Ipswich Town.
