John Hartson has told Go Radio that Newcastle United man Ryan Fraser should join Celtic this summer amid reports that Leeds United are also considering a move for the Scotland star. His deal ends in 2025.
Fraser, 29, has managed just 59 games for Newcastle in the three years he has spent on Tyneside. Last season, he played just eight times. The Daily Mail said Fraser has been frozen out, training with the 21’s.
According to a report from the Sunday Mirror (9/7; page 74), Leeds want Fraser. Then, a report from The Northern Echo said that Celtic are also looking at Fraser. Brendan Rodgers is keen on the Scotland man.
Ex-Celtic man Hartson was asked about a move for Fraser. He believes it is in £63k-a-week Fraser’s best interests to make the switch to Celtic. He says it would be a wise move for the Toon wide man.
“He is a good player,” Hartson told Go Radio, when asked about Fraser. “He’s not played regularly of late, his game time is not as much as he would have wanted. I am not too sure if he is in Howe’s plans.
“Newcastle are looking at the top-end market. I think Ryan Fraser is a talent and joining Celtic would be a very wise move because he has a lot to prove as well,” Hartson continued, discussing a move to Celtic.

Leeds have wingers. But Jack Harrison has gone to Everton, Willy Gnonto and Luis Sinisterra are training by themselves as they pursue a move. Helder Costa is expected to go. Crysencio Summerville is injured.
It leaves us with Dan James and Ian Poveda. Last time out, Poveda was used in the no.10 role – forcing Jamie Shackleton to play wide right. Leeds, therefore, need wingers and a player like fleet-footed Fraser.
