Leeds United are back in action after the final international break of the season with the first of their eight remaining Championship games now just two days away, as Leeds welcome Swansea City.

It was a successful international break for Leeds United’s 16 players, with six scoring for their countries in Dan James, Mateo Joseph, Rasmus Kristensen, Sam Chambers, Diogo Monteiro and Junior Firpo.

Ao Tanaka helped Japan become the first nation to qualify for the 2026 World Cup and Isaac Schmidt won his first caps for Switzerland. Wales remained unbeaten under Craig Bellamy with a win and a late draw.

Leeds’ Welsh trio of Karl Darlow, Joe Rodon and James all started both games for Bellamy’s side, as Wales secured a 3-1 win over Kazakhstan and a 1-1 draw away at North Macedonia on Tuesday night.

No surprises as Joe Rodon picks fastest Leeds United player

It feels for the first time in years that Leeds have some serious pace in their squad. Manor Solomon is rapid, Brenden Aaronson is fleet-footed and both Willy Gnonto and Largie Ramazani are very quick.

But there are no surprises when it comes to who is the fastest Leeds player. The club posted a video of Rodon, James, Aaronson and Ethan Ampadu answering a few short questions about their teammates.

Asked who is the quickest at tracking back to help out defensively, Rodon initially suggested himself before picking the obvious answer in winger James: “That’s my thing. Nah, DJ’s probably the quickest.”

Dan James holds the key to securing three points vs Swansea

With Sheffield United and Burnley providing the pressure, Leeds have got to get off to a good start in what is like a mini-season in the race for automatic promotion. James can provide the difference.

Not least because it is against his old club, but James’ record in his three appearances against Swansea is impressive. Two starts, three goals and assists for James when coming up against his boyhood outfit.

Swansea have just confirmed Alan Sheehan will remain in interim charge until the summer, having taken seven points from his five games – though Swansea lost the last two games prior to the break.
