Premier League winner Joe Hart had no doubt when asked whether Leeds United’s prolific goalscorer, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, should be in Thomas Tuchel’s plans for the World Cup.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin was the toast of Elland Road after his fine brace helped Leeds secure a dominant 4-1 win over Crystal Palace.

Having received some early-season criticism, Calvert-Lewin is now showing the kind of form that earned him 11 England caps during his time with Everton.

Calvert-Lewin became the first Leeds player since Mark Viduka to score in five consecutive Premier League games, as he was in the right place in the box to bag a brace.

Now, Hart has claimed that Calvert-Lewin has to be in Thomas Tuchel’s plans, as he considers who should provide support to Harry Kane in attack in his England squad.

Joe Hart backs Dominic Calvert-Lewin for England return

Speaking on the BBC’s Match of the Day, the former England shot-stopper praised Calvert-Lewin’s impact in the statement win over Crystal Palace.

According to Hart, Calvert-Lewin has to be in Tuchel’s plans and would represent a “great option” for the England manager.

Asked whether Calvert-Lewin is a viable option for England at the World Cup, Hart said: “Of course he is.

“He’s proven that when he’s fit and when he’s firing, he’s scored six goals in the last five games. I’ve seen him interview recently about how good he feels about his game.

“We’ve talked about Danny Welbeck. Harry Kane, of course, is going to be there. Ollie Watkins. But a fit Dominic Calvert-Lewin is a great option to have.”

This was Daniel Farke’s best performance as Leeds manager – Prove me wrong! 💪

Palace had no answers for Farke's 'hybrid' system. Relive it all here!

Stephen McPhail was the hero on that occasion, as the Irishman scored a brace against Chelsea to ensure Leeds topped the table at Christmas under David O’Leary.

Although Calvert-Lewin’s brace did not lift Leeds to the top of the table, it means that the Whites can look forward with renewed optimism heading into the new year.
