Jesse Marsch’s agent Ron Waxman has confirmed he is no longer in the running for the USA job as he continues to search for his first job since being sacked by Leeds United.

Waxman revealed the news on his official Twitter account, where he made it clear that Marsch will definitely not become the next manager of the USMNT.

It had been reported last month that Marsch’s appointment at the USA was ‘practically done’, with the 49-year-old scheduled to take charge after the CONCACAF Gold Cup.

However, as the weeks have progressed since then, doubts have emerged over whether he would indeed take the job, which have been proven correct by his agent.

Marsch has instead been linked with a number of club roles, first being mentioned as targets for Leicester City and Southampton immediately after his Leeds exit, before more recently the likes of Celtic and AS Monaco.

Marsch won’t be next manager of USA

Marsch is clearly looking to bide his time and find the right role after his exit from Leeds, as another poor performance could really affect his credentials.

Prior to his struggles at Leeds, Marsch endured a tough time at RB Leipzig and one more failure could all but end his time as a manager at the top level in Europe.

Taking charge of your country is, of course, something any manager would dream of doing, but a new club role appears to be his priority right now.

Patrick Vieira – one of the names mentioned to replace Marsch at Leeds in February – has been contacted for the role at USA and is believed to be keen.

Vieira has experience of the USA having spent time in charge of New York City FC earlier in his managerial career.
