Mark Viduka has always been praised highly for his ability at Leeds United as the Aussie was certainly a handful.
Daniel Farke could do with someone of Viduka’s quality in his Leeds squad, even though there are slight comparisons with Joel Piroe.
Piroe still has a long way to go to emulate Viduka, who built a long-standing legacy with the club.
The striker scored some great goals for the club but none top Viduka’s winner for Leeds vs Arsenal in 2003.
With his prowess as a striker known to the footballing world, what Jamie Carragher said about him speaks volumes to his ability.

Jamie Carragher couldn’t ‘cope with’ Mark Viduka at Leeds United
As an experienced Premier League defender in himself, the fact Carragher struggled against the big Australian says it all.
On the whole, his tenure with Leeds was a success, but Viduka did have a spat with Peter Reid, being the reason he left Elland Road in 2004.
But this doesn’t outshine what he did for the club, and Carragher spoke to Sky Sports in 2020 about why he was so good at being a nuisance in the Premier League, and compared him to a Man United legend.
“There’s certain players, physically you can’t cope with them,” Carragher said.
“You have to play against them in a different way.
“Viduka was someone who always came to the ball, he was very much like Mark Hughes in some ways.
“You were never going to knock him off the ball – you couldn’t stop Viduka in doing what he wanted to do.”
Thierry Henry agrees with Carragher about Viduka’s strength at Leeds
It seemed like Viduka had that impact on the league which impressed even the very best to grace the top flight.
This became apparent when Thierry Henry praised Viduka for his strength, suggesting Erling Haaland is nowhere near the Aussie’s level in terms of hold-up play.
Henry’s verdict is difficult to argue, and the fact Carragher and the Frenchman share the same stance tells you all you need to know about Viduka at Leeds.
How fans would long for the next Viduka to appear, as there is no denying he’s one of the greats to wear the White of Leeds.
