Ethan Ampadu says he is really enjoying playing alongside Joe Rodon and Dan James for both Leeds United and Wales.
Ampadu was speaking in an interview with BBC Radio Leeds, where he previewed the Whites’ trip to Leicester City this evening, as well as his relationship with Rodon and James.
The 23-year-old has enjoyed a brilliant start to life at Leeds following his £7 million move from Chelsea in the summer, playing every minute of every game across all competitions.
Rodon, meanwhile, is another summer signing who has settled in well since his loan switch from Tottenham Hotspur, bringing a real steel to Leeds’ back four.
James is the only one of the trio who was at Leeds prior to this season, though he himself almost felt like a new signing having spent the last 12 months out on loan at Fulham.
Ampadu on playing with Rodon and James
Speaking on his relationship with both Rodon and James, Ampadu believes playing alongside them for both club and country allows them to develop a real understanding with one another.
He said: “It’s good. From being with each other day in, day out you learn within the match little things that each of them do. Joe and I can have that linkup so I can get on the ball, he can play it to me and the same when we play it do DJ. You learn those traits of each other more on a daily basis, which can only help.”
All three players have managed to quickly establish themselves as crucial members of Daniel Farke’s first team squad, with Ampadu arguably the best signing Leeds have made in years.
Rodon has really strengthened Leeds’ defence since his arrival, while it is a testament to how well James is playing that he is currently ahead of both Willy Gnonto and Jaidon Anthony for those wide positions.
Clearly it has also helped Wales, too, as they now have a real chance of qualifying for next summer’s EUROs having looked all but done just a matter of months ago.
