‘It helps a lot’… Archie Gray names the three Leeds teammates who are always giving him advice in training

It is crazy to think how good Leeds United youngster Archie Gray could be with how he is currently performing at just 17.

Gray was tipped to have a breakthrough season by many last summer and it has certainly proved that way, but he has arguably been even better than anyone could’ve imagined.

Alongside Ethan Ampadu, Gray started the season in central midfield but from around October onwards, has been Leeds’ starting right-back. It is a position he has continued to grow into.

Despite the quality of his performances, Gray still has plenty of room for improvement and so understandably, he is always receiving advice from teammates on the training pitch – even from those who aren’t that much older than him.

Speaking on the latest episode of the Official Leeds United Podcast, Gray has named Crysencio Summerville, Willy Gnonto and Jaidon Anthony as three players who are always helping him out at Thorp Arch.

Gray shares Summerville, Gnonto and Anthony advice

He said: “He [Summerville] is definitely one of the best wingers in the league. When you are lining up against the other team, you think well I have been up against people like him, Willy, Jaidon.

“You are well prepared for it because you come up against these guys every day of the week in training, they do help you if they do get past you.

“There is loads of times where I get the better but they will too, it’s what happens in training, but they help you if I have done something wrong and if they notice it, they will always tell me. It helps a lot.”

With Gray still being fairly new to the position of right-back at senior level, pointers from left-wingers with the level of quality Summerville, Gnonto and Anthony have at this level will do him the world of good.

His teammates already know how good he is and can be, but he still has plenty of development left to go and advice from players better than what he is going to come up against in matches will stand him in good stead.

It is also good to hear players like Summerville, Gnonto and Anthony, who are still very young themselves, willing to help our their teammates on the training pitch.
