Journalist Ben Jacobs has suggested that Crysencio Summerville already has a brilliant relationship with Daniel Farke with the Leeds United winger set to attract interest in the January transfer window.

Jacobs was speaking to Give Me Sport as he suggested that the Dutchman was happy to stay at Elland Road over the summer rather than join the mass exodus.

Summerville is certainly in the conversation for being the best player in the Championship so far this season. The 22-year-old has been outstanding so far, scoring a number of vital goals.

Crysencio Summerville has great relationship with Leeds boss Daniel Farke

Crysencio Summerville has now scored six goals and contributed four assists. He had a hand in all four goals at the weekend. And with that, Leeds fans would be forgiven for being a little concerned with the January transfer window emerging on the horizon.

Of course, we saw a number of players depart over the summer. And there are surely going to be plenty of sides looking at Summerville in the winter.

But Jacobs has suggested a move is not a certainty, given that he has a strong bond with the manager and is happy in West Yorkshire.

“A January exit is by no means guaranteed because he is integral to Leeds at the moment. Naturally, there’s going to be interest, as there was over the summer. Everton, Bournemouth and Burnley, for example, have all looked at the player,” he told Give Me Sport.

“But it’s a very different situation to Wilfried Gnonto, who ended up staying but tried to force his way out of the club and then eventually apologised to Daniel Farke. Angus Kinnear, Leeds’ chief executive, played a big role in smoothing that situation over.

“With Summerville, he was a model professional and has a very strong relationship with Farke. In many ways, it was the player himself that wanted to stay at Leeds last summer, rather than drive an exit.

“That is highly significant in all of this because Summerville really likes Leeds and is settled at Leeds. He felt, over the summer, that Leeds was the best place for him to be, which means that Leeds have got a bit more control over this one than with Gnonto.”

Whites surely need immediate promotion to keep their most exciting players

It would be a huge boost for Leeds if they could keep Summerville for the entire season. Clearly, he is someone who can tear defenders apart at this level.

And it already feels as though it is imperative that the likes of Summerville and Georginio Rutter stay fit if Leeds are going to stand a chance of catching the pace-setters in the Championship.

If we fail to go up, we cannot expect the likes of Summerville and Rutter to stick around. But clearly, the pair are really enjoying their football right now.

And that is an extremely positive sign if Leeds manage to make their stay in the second tier a very brief one.
