‘I’m told’… Leeds United and Wolves target wants return to England, but only to the Premier League

Leeds United have been regularly linked with a move for Fenerbahce and Nigeria star Bright Osayi-Samuel – and a new report says he is keen on returning to England, with a Premier League side.

The 26-year-old has now spent the last three years in Turkish football with Fener – having a hand in 17 goals in 128 games after converting into a right-back. He was a winger, while at QPR and Blackpool.

The Nigeria star is enjoying his best season yet, laying on seven goals and assists in 28 games for Fener wile also reaching the African Cup of Nations final last month – only to lose late on the Ivory Coast.

The versatile ace, who is yet to play in the Premier League, is about to enter the final 12 months of his Fener contract and a summer move looks likely. Leeds, Palace and Wolves are supposedly interested.

Indeed, it is not the first time Leeds have been linked – but it is unclear how much Fener would want for Osayi-Samuel. Now, Ben Jacobs has given an update to Give Me Sport – saying he wants to return.

“Leeds’ interest has been historical, so it’s no surprise if they return. England is somewhere that he would be prepared to entertain, would ideally be looking for Premier League football, from what I’m told.

“So if Leeds are to reignite interest in a player that they’ve tracked before, then it would likely, given that there is other Premier League interest, be contingent on them getting promoted,” Jacobs said, on GMS.

Leeds target Bright Osayi-Samuel eyes return to English football

If Leeds were to make a move for Osayi-Samuel, it would be because they want a right-back – not a winger. We’re well stocked on the flanks – with Dan James and Willy Gnonto largely playing on the right.

So, a right-back. Well, Sam Byram and Jamie Shackleton are out of contract and there is an expectancy that eventually, Archie Gray will move into midfield. It could all depend on the future of Connor Roberts.

Roberts has made a good start at Elland Road after joining on loan from Burnley and has already made it clear he would be open to a permanent switch. If we choose to do so, there’s no need for Osayi-Samuel.
