Reports from The Netherlands this week claim Aston Villa are one of a number of clubs keen to raid Leeds United after relegation, to strike a deal for Crysencio Summerville – but Leeds simply cannot let the Dutchman depart.
Summerville, 21, enjoyed a decent season for Leeds despite the club going down. Of his 40 senior outings for the Whites, 31 came in 2022-23. He scored four goals, all of which came in a row before the break for the World Cup.
Now, Leeds have been relegated. Plenty of players are expected to leave Elland Road this summer. The likes of Tyler Adams, Junior Firpo, Marc Roca, Illan Meslier, Willy Gnonto, Luis Sinisterra and plenty more have received interest.
Dutch outlet FC Update claim that Aston Villa are one of a number of clubs taking a look at Summerville. A player that Patrick Bamford said: “Sometimes it is too easy for him, I know it sounds silly but he is a really good player.”
RB Leipzig, and PSV Eindhoven too. Summerville is a wonderful talent, able to score and create. But, there is a bigger reason that should convince Leeds to keep him – and it is the likelihood that three other wingers leave.
Leeds simply cannot let Summerville depart with Aston Villa keen
Jack Harrison is more than likely to go. While he signed a new deal, he has a relegation release clause in his deal and Premier League clubs are keen. Sinisterra has proven himself at the top level, Bayer Leverkusen are keen.
Teenage wonderkid Gnonto has admirers all over Europe – Serie A, and Premier League. Tony Dorigo reckons Napoli could look to sign the 10-time Italy man. All three are more likely to go, than Summerville. His deal is until 2026.
So, with Gnonto, Harrison and Sinisterra likely to have left the club by the time the new Championship season starts – it is imperative to keep Summerville. Leeds will simply be lacking wingers, and the second tier could help him.
