Leeds United are targeting a move for a new striker this summer.
That is according to Leeds Live reporter Beren Cross, who was responding to a supporter in a question and answer session earlier this afternoon.
Cross was quizzed on whether Leeds are ‘actively targeting’ a new number nine before the end of the window, to which he confirmed they are, from what he understands.

Leeds head into the Championship opener with Cardiff City this weekend with potentially both of their first choice strikers doubtful due to injuries sustained in their final friendly against Hearts on Sunday.
Georginio Rutter limped off midway through the first half with what Daniel Farke confirmed was a side strain, while Patrick Bamford picked up what looked like a hamstring injury.
Cross says Leeds are actively targeting striker signing
At this stage, it appears as though Leeds are currently prioritising the addition of a new centre-back, though a striker certainly shouldn’t be too far behind.
As already has been proven in pre-season, Leeds can ill afford to rely on Bamford to stay fit for a prolonged period of time and it would be unfair to once again enter a new campaign with him as the main man.

Rutter, meanwhile, looks as though he would be best suited to playing in the three behind the striker, though he certainly does have the attributes to lead the line.
Swansea City’s Joel Piroe has been the most heavily linked target for Leeds so far this summer, but at £15 million, it is not a cheap deal.
Aside from that, Leeds appear to be keeping their main targets under wraps and so it remains to be seen who they may go for.
