‘Honestly’… Huddersfield Town star predicts whether Leeds United will finish in the top two

Michal Helik got his name on the score sheet on Saturday as Huddersfield Town stopped Leeds United from winning all three points – but he predicted Daniel Farke’s side will go up automatically.

It was a frustrating afternoon for Leeds on Saturday, and another example in which Leeds have been stopped by lower-end clubs from securing a result. Rotherham, Birmingham and Stoke, other examples.

Leeds had the chances but Patrick Bamford scored our only goal – opening the door for Southampton and Ipswich to claw back some ground. Both won, winning games against Birmingham and Plymouth.

Leeds should have won on Saturday, and while we did not have the abundance of chances that we might normally boast – there was still enough to secure all three. Helik was certainly impressed with Leeds.

Speaking after the game, goalscorer Helik gave his verdict on Leeds and whether he thinks the Whites will gain promotion this season. He told The Sun that he is confident we’ll go up, finishing in the top two.

“I think they’ve got so much quality and honestly think they will go up directly. It’s not been an easy season for us. We are trying to do our job better and climb that table,” Helik said to The Sun this week.

He’s not the first to predict that Leeds will go up automatically. Clinton Morrison backed the Whites to go up when picking his top two. Tim Sherwood recently said the same, backing automatic promotion.

For Helik to think that having watched Leeds at first hand on Saturday, especially when the Whites were not at their best, speaks volumes. Hopefully, his prediction rings true come the end of the campaign.
