Tim Sherwood has given his verdict on whether or not Daniel Farke’s Leeds United will be able to win automatic promotion to the Premier League.
The former Aston Villa manager has also made an observation about Leeds fans at Elland Road.
So, what has Tim Sherwood said about Leeds United and their chances of winning promotion from the Championship? Let’s take a look.
Tim Sherwood backs Leeds United to win automatic promotion
Well, Tim Sherwood has been speaking about Leeds United’s chances of winning automatic promotion from the Championship.
The former Aston Villa manager and Sky Sports pundit believes that Leeds will end up in the top two of the Championship table this season and get back into the Premier League.
Sherwood also noted how the Elland Road faithful will help the Leeds players get the job done in the final weeks and months of the season.
Leeds came from a goal down to beat Leicester City 3-1 at Elland Road in the Championship on Friday evening. Connor Roberts scored one of the goals and was very impressive.
The West Yorkshire club are now second in the Championship table with 72 points from 34 matches. They are six points behind leaders Leicester and level on points with Ipswich Town, who are third. Southampton in fourth are on 67 points.

The Yorkshire Evening Post has quoted Sherwood as saying on Saturday: “Amazing. I watched that game last night, they ain’t never ever coming back from that game unless it’s for them home fans there. They get behind them like you would not believe. We love going there. It was one of the cup finals for me eery season, going to play at Elland Road, up against it with a crowd so raucous.
“I just think they were the assisters there last night and I think they get automatic promotion. I’m not sure anyone catches Leicester in first place for the championship. But I’m not sure they are bothered about that.
“They want automatic promotion and I think because of that fan base they will finish above Ipswich and Southampton. Southampton, listen, they fill their stadiums, both sets of fans. But the support what that lot gave them last night was incredible. Please give us them back to the Premier League.”
My View: Leeds United can win Championship title
In my opinion, Leeds United can win the Championship title this season. I think that the Whites have what it takes to finish above the likes of Leicester City, Ipswich Town and Southampton and win automatic promotion to the Premier League.
After all, the West Yorkshire club are only six points behind leaders Leicester, who have lost their last two league games. Leeds have won their last nine Championship matches.
While Ipswich have won their last four Championship games, Southampton have lost three of their last four league fixtures.
