Daniel Farke is set to remain in the Leeds United hotseat after securing promotion to the Premier League but Gretar Steinsson still has a manager to appoint – this time, at Rangers.
Steinsson joined Leeds from Tottenham after Victor Orta’s regime came to an end. Leeds chose to change the one-man dictatorship employed by Orta, who is currently receiving criticism for his work at Sevilla.
Indeed, Leeds hired a team of transfer experts with Steinsson the spearhead. Since then, Steinsson has gone upstairs, working as a technical director for The 49ers – he still oversees Leeds, but other clubs too.
With The 49ers set to take over at Rangers in the next few months, Steinsson is working hard to appoint a new manager at Ibrox. Barry Ferguson currently remains in interim charge at Rangers, but has struggled.

The manager Gretar Steinsson is set to choose as Rangers boss
Back in the summer of 2023, newly-appointed Steinsson was among the team picking a new manager for Leeds. A gaffer that had to deal with a new takeover and rejuvenating a side that had just been relegated.
Daniel Farke was the man eventually picked, largely because of the two Championship titles on his CV. He has the chance to make it three in the next week, if his Leeds side can beat Bristol City and Plymouth.
With The 49ers set to take over at Rangers and add the Scottish giants to their portfolio, Steinsson is in control in terms of picking a new manager. The Scottish Daily Express say Steven Gerrard is most-likely.

Rangers set to re-appoint Steven Gerrard after Leeds links in 2023
Gerrard was on the Leeds shortlist in 2023 and the Liverpool legend was said to be keen on joining Leeds, before The Whites hired Farke. It came after a stunning period at Rangers, in which he stopped Celtic.
But instead of joining Leeds after Farke’s appointment, Gerrard went to Saudi Arabia with Al Ettifaq and now, is on the lookout for a new job on these shores. Clearly, Steinsson is a fan of Gerrard as a manager.
It is the obvious appointment at Rangers. The last man to bring Rangers fans joy, is Gerrard and he is available with Steinsson having considered him for Leeds. Russell Martin has been linked with Rangers.
But Steinsson is set to bring Gerrard back to Rangers, more than three years after he left for Aston Villa. Whether Rangers fans are as welcoming when he first joined, remains to be seen after his move to Villa.
