Leeds United are looking to wrap up their second summer signing in the next few days.
That is according to Yorkshire Evening Post journalist Graham Smyth, who reports Leeds are ‘hopeful’ of getting a deal done for a new goalkeeper this week.
Following the arrival of Ethan Ampadu from Chelsea last week, various reports indicated that goalkeeper would be the next position of priority.
And despite a quiet few days in the wake of Ampadu’s arrival, it appears as though they have made progress behind-the-scenes in their hunt for a new shotstopper.
Leeds are next in pre-season action on Thursday night against Nottingham Forest and the hope may well be to have him in the building to be involved in some capacity.
Leeds looking to complete goalkeeper deal in next few days
Leeds have been linked with a host of goalkeepers so far this summer but one player who does not look like he will be moving to Elland Road is Alexander Nubel.
Nubel is set to make the season-long-loan switch to Stuttgart after agreeing a deal with Bayern Munich, with the German having made his wish to stay in the Bundesliga clear from the get-go.
Karl Darlow is another who has been heavily linked with a move to Leeds and it had appeared as though he was on his way to Bournemouth last week.
However, that move has gone quiet in recent days and so it remains to be seen whether Leeds have managed to swoop in ahead of the Cherries.
Other names who have been mentioned as targets include Preston North End’s Freddie Woodman and Norwich City’s Angus Gunn.
