Graham Smyth has issued an update on the status of Leeds United’s contract negotiations with Harry Gray as fans’ concerns grow over the talented youngster’s future.
Harry Gray is one of the most highly rated young players in the Premier League and is on the fringes of the Leeds United first team.
Despite only recently turning 17, Gray has already been named in a matchday squad, joining an exclusive club alongside James Milner and Aaron Lennon.
Leeds United News recently revealed that Leeds are confident of tying their talented forward down to an extended deal, as Gray was named in a list of the 20 most talented players in the Premier League recently.
Now, journalist Graham Smyth has provided an update on the negotiations over a new contract amid concerns that a rival club could poach Gray.

Update provided on Harry Gray’s contract at Leeds United
In an article in the Yorkshire Evening Post, Smyth gave the latest position on the negotiations between the club and the player.
According to Smyth, Leeds remain confident of securing Gray on improved terms, despite growing anxiety among the club’s fanbase after his 17th birthday came and went without a new deal being announced.
Smyth wrote: “Spurs, Manchester City and others are known to hold an interest in Harry Gray, as so many did when Archie was breaking through.
“But now that the younger Gray has turned 17, he is able to sign a professional contract and both Leeds and the player’s camp expect that to happen.”
The news will come as a relief to both fans and the club, who want to avoid a repeat of Finlay Gorman’s departure, after the talented youngster joined Manchester City as a 15-year-old.

Harry Gray makes update to social media profile
Smyth’s update comes as Gray has updated his social media profile, which will worry fans of the club.
Gray has changed his Instagram profile picture, under the handle @harrygray.9, to a black screen, and there is no reference to Leeds United in his biography.

While the update may not be intended as a statement about his future at Leeds, it follows a growing trend among players who are linked with a move away from their clubs.
Former Brentford man Yoann Wissa did the same as he waited for his move to Newcastle, as did Leeds United loanee Largie Ramazani prior to his move to Valencia. Leeds fans will be desperately hoping it is not a bad omen, as his contract talks rumble on.
