Journalist Graham Smyth has shared the Leeds United board’s latest position on head coach Daniel Farke after the Premier League defeat against Aston Villa.

Daniel Farke was barracked by some sections of the Elland Road crowd at full-time of the defeat against Aston Villa.

The defeat saw Leeds remain in the Premier League relegation places, with the pressure on Farke increasing with his side on a run of five defeats in six games.

Leeds United News understands that the 49ers are reviewing Farke’s position amid the downturn in form, as Leeds look to avoid dropping back into the Championship.

Now, the Yorkshire Evening Post’s Graham Smyth has provided an insight into how the club’s hierarchy feel about Farke’s future as the pressure on the Leeds boss continues to build.

Graham Smyth delivers verdict on Daniel Farke’s Leeds United future

Speaking on the Square Ball Podcast, Smyth revealed that he believed the Leeds board are “dangerously close” to being forced to make a decision on Farke’s future at Leeds.

According to Smyth, Leeds will already be considering their plan B if Farke is unable to arrest the current slide, with three difficult games on the horizon.

Smyth said: “I think they will be concerned. I think they’d be mad not to be concerned. I think they’d be mad not to be down the line with where our possible plan B is here.

“I think where they’ll actually take action is when they think plan A is definitely not going to get us the points we need to stay up, based on what they see from performances. I just think you’re dangerously close to that point. Very dangerously close to that point because of what we’ve seen.

“Even in the games where you think, yeah, they performed really well. I think about Spurs, great performance, didn’t win the game. Bournemouth, great performance, but didn’t win the game. Fulham, [Leeds] performed really well, lost 1 -0.

“And because of that, and then because of what happens when they don’t play well, you think even when this team plays really well, does it have enough in it to win games?”

Daniel Farke will not receive the same patience he received at Norwich City

Farke’s record in the Premier League is poor, stretching back to his first assault on the competition with Norwich City in the 2019/20 season.

The current Leeds boss was handed a second shot at the competition with the Canaries, having suffered relegation in his first managerial season in the top flight.

Daniel Farke is statistically Leeds’ worst Premier League manager 📉

However, according to Opta, Farke set a new record for the most consecutive Premier League defeats across those two seasons, as Norwich lost 15 games in a row.

With the likes of Brendan Rodgers waiting in the wings, Farke will not get that much leeway at Leeds. If Farke’s current three-game losing streak turns into a six-game run without a win, that could be enough to convince the 49ers to take action.
