There is a lot of talk about Daniel Farke at Leeds right now.
The German has gone from a man on the brink of losing his job at Elland Road after four consecutive defeats, to one now coasting off the highs of a 3-1 win over Chelsea and receiving praise for changing his tactics to a 3-5-2 shape.
It was the Guardian who claimed that Daniel Farke is under pressure, and within that article, there was a line claiming that the 49ers and the 49-year-old were in disagreement over recruitment during the summer.
Graham Smyth has now quashed that when speaking on the Inside Elland Road podcast.

The likes of Joel Piroe and Willy Gnonto are struggling to force their way into Farke's plans.
To be more specific, the Guardian wrote: “Some at the club have raised questions about the quality of the players he brought in with accusations he favoured physicality over technical quality.”
After reading that, Smyth hit back and said: “One thing I found interesting this week was a national newspaper report that (had) quite an easy line to write when a manager’s lost four in a row and he’s about to face Man City, Chelsea, Liverpool.
“An easy line is he’s under pressure and his job’s under scrutiny. Of course it is. Obviously it is. But there was a line in the piece that said club insiders or people near the top of the club, I can’t remember how it was phrased, felt that Farke went too physical with the recruitment and not technical enough. That is entirely opposite to our understanding of what it was in the summer. The recruitment was agreed upon by the manager and the club.
“It was the club who very much identified that physical, direct, set pieces, all of those boxes had to be ticked for Leeds to stay up. That survivor ball in the club’s eyes looked like what it looked like last night (against Chelsea). I would imagine that of the two sides, it was probably Farke who had to bring himself closer to that position from his natural position, which is dominant, possession football.”
That story from the Guardian also mentioned that Gabriel Gudmundsson and Sean Longstaff are the only signings considered successful internally at Leeds – which is harsh on Lukas Nmecha following his arrival on a free transfer after leaving Wolfsburg.
Leeds United can spend in January, so the 49ers and Daniel Farke must get their ducks in a row
Adam Williams – Head of Football Finance and Governance Content for GRV Media – spoke to Leeds United News earlier this week to discuss what Robbie Evans said about PSR at Elland Road.
For those unaware, Evans said in September: “This summer, we spent everything we could. Unequivocally, we are maxing PSR out this season.”

Leeds fans would have expected a very quiet winter transfer window after hearing those comments, but Williams believes the situation is not as bad as it seems, and there will be a budget to spend.
In short, he said: “When someone says they are unequivocally maxing out PSR, I think it’s always best to take it with a lorry load of salt.
“For one, Evans said that Leeds were at their limit in the summer before they then went on to try and make further additions before the window closed. It now appears that there is going to be a budget available in January too, which again suggests that they have more headroom than Evans implied. At a more fundamental level, you can’t possibly know that you are going to spend right up to the limit of PSR in the summer because you don’t know what your revenue for the season is going to be.”
Hopefully – in that case – Farke and the 49ers already have a list of targets they want to attack as soon as January begins.
