‘Good news’… Daniel Farke confirms key duo will be in Leeds squad to face Sheffield United at Elland Road

Daniel Farke has shared an injury update on his Leeds United squad ahead of the upcoming clash with Sheffield United.

The Whites‘ return to Championship action sees them come up against the only remaining unbeaten side across the entire EFL, who have also conceded just three goals all season.

The international break came at arguably the ideal time for Leeds as they were missing several key players for the 2-2 draw at Sunderland last time out.

Manor Solomon, Ethan Ampadu, Ilia Gruev, Dan James and Max Wober were all absent, meaning Farke‘s squad was very much down to the barebones.

And while no Championship club had more players away on international duty than Leeds, it has at least given them some time to rest and get some of those back fit.

Farke shares Manor Solomon and Dan James injury update

Having just netted his first goal of the season at Sheffield Wednesday, James has missed the last six matches due to a hamstring injury.

James had expected to be back after the last international break but suffered a recurrence of the issue in training, which kept him out of the last month.

Solomon, meanwhile, has been unavailable for Leeds’ last four since that costly slip in the 1-0 defeat to Burnley at Elland Road.

The Tottenham loanee had initially been suffering with a back injury, before that then developed into a hamstring problem.

Both players were at Thorp Arch completing rehab while the rest of the non-internationals were given a week off, though it appears to have paid dividends.

Having been back in full team training this week, Farke has confirmed both players will be in the squad to face Sheffield United in his press conference.

He said: “Good news with Daniel James and Manor Solomon, since late last week back in team training, a major part. Obviously Dan James was out a bit longer, six weeks, perhaps easier for Manor as he was out three weeks. Desperately need them back as solutions.”

Farke issues promising Max Wober update

While Solomon and James are back, Wober, Ampadu and Gruev all face more longer term injury lay-offs.

However, Farke had a positive update to bring on Wober, suggesting he is ahead of schedule and could be back earlier than expected.

He said: “Good news with Wober, he’s a bit ahead of schedule in his rehab programme. Expected him back after next int’l break, he could be involved before.”
