Glen Kamara is yet to open his goalscoring account for Leeds United after joining from Rangers and while it is not part of his job description – he says his teammates have been teasing him in training.
Finland star Kamara, 28, has been sensational in the middle of the park for Leeds. The perfect no.6 next to Ethan Ampadu, who sits more defensively. It has seen Archie Gray move to the right of the defence.
Kamara has been fantastic for Leeds. His effervescent energy in all areas of the pitch is frightening. But, one thing is lacking and that is goals. Two goals in 58 Finland caps, nine goals in 193 games at Rangers.
The midfielder is not renowned for being a goalscorer. But he has come close in a Leeds shirt, perhaps coming closest against Norwich City – somehow flashing the ball wide of the far post at Carrow Road.
Ethan Ampadu opened his account with a brace against Peterborough and that has left Kamara – with Archie Gray and Joe Rodon – yet to score. But they’re defenders. Kamara spoke to the Evening Post.

“Honestly, I hear it every day from the boys about scoring, scoring in general. I’ve had a few chances in games, I haven’t done so well with chances but it’ll come. It’ll come for sure. Just give me some time.”
Glen Kamara teased by Leeds teammates behind the scenes
The midfielder does not need to score to have the impact he is having on this Leeds team. Paul Merson said Kamara “run the show” last time out against Cardiff and he certainly did that, a wonderful player.
And a bargain signing and it does beg the question, why did it take so long to get him in? But his efforts in front of goal does need improvement – Jermaine Beckford has alluded to it in the last few months.
