Paul Merson has lauded Leeds United after their victory over Cardiff City on Saturday, and named the player he felt ran the show in South Wales.

Daniel Farke’s men made it three 3-0 wins on the spin, with Patrick Bamford, Daniel James and Georginio Rutter all finding the back of the net this time around.

Glen Kamara returned to the starting lineup for the trip to the Cardiff City Stadium, with the Finland international playing alongside Ilia Gruev. Ethan Ampadu dropped into centre-back, producing a superb display alongside Joe Rodon.

Paul Merson praises Glen Kamara after Leeds win

Kamara has been an excellent signing for Leeds since his move from Rangers in the summer. And speaking on Soccer Saturday on Sky Sports (broadcast on 13/1; 17:01), Paul Merson suggested that the 28-year-old was the standout for the visitors in their latest win.

“I was very impressed with Leeds. Very professional, had loads more chances. But looked very good. Chasing down Southampton, going to be a battle to the end chasing down Southampton. But I was really impressed with Leeds United. Kamara in midfield run the show. And the two wingers, Summerville and James, very good. Great performance,” he said.

Whites now boast such an impressive spine

Leeds now boast a superb group of midfield players. Gruev showed what he can do with a really impressive performance as he made a rare start.

And Ampadu barely put a foot wrong alongside Joe Rodon at centre-back. Of course, the Wales international is not a stranger to the role. But it is not somewhere he has had a lot of minutes since joining Leeds.

Leeds have scored nine and conceded none across their last three games in all competitions. Not only does that show just how impressive the attack is, but it also highlights how strong the spine of the side can be.

And Kamara has quickly made himself absolutely instrumental to the team’s fortunes since his £5 million summer switch.
