Georginio Rutter has sent a message on Instagram to Leeds United supporters after the news he now requires surgery.
Rutter registered another two assists for the Whites on Sunday afternoon in a 2-0 victory over Millwall at Elland Road, which saw Leeds go top of the table for the first time this season.
After a hectic period of matches, the Championship is now at the beginning of a two-week international break, with Leeds next back in action on Good Friday at Watford.
Rutter had been one of many Leeds players scheduled to represent their country over the next week or so, but withdrew from France’s U21s squad so he can undergo minor surgery on a hernia.
Leeds are hopeful he will be available to play again in the next 10 days and writing on Instagram, Rutter has sent a message to supporters after the decision was taken.

He said: “Hi everyone, important victory yesterday. Thank you for the support but I wanted to tell you that after a few painful weeks I tried to give everything for the team until the end, but my body told me to stop.
“I hope to the help the team as quickly as possible, see you soon.”
Of course, Rutter’s availability over the Easter weekend is now going to be touch and go, but providing the timeline set by Leeds is correct, then there is a chance he could be fit for Watford.
Rutter has still been offering the team plenty in terms of assists recently but there is no doubt his performance levels have declined slightly, and it is now clear just why that has been the case.
However, considering how many fouls he is subjected to pretty much every game, full credit has to go to him for playing through the pain barrier and contributing to what has been an exceptional run of form for Leeds.
