While Leeds United fans wanted more signings in the summer window, the players Leeds have signed have been excellent, and it shouldn’t really come as much of a surprise.

Daniel Farke has got many things right in his two years at Leeds, even in the face of constant criticism and scrutiny. But one element he has been near-perfect with is recruitment. His signings have been great.

It is not as if he has had a blank cheque. Farke has made the point many times that Leeds are fighting with the “sins of the past”, or to put it bluntly, Andrea Radrizzani’s credit card and Victor Orta’s clauses.

Karl Darlow, Jayden Bogle, Joe Rodon, Ethan Ampadu, and Ao Tanaka all signed for £10m or less. In the most recent window, Sean Longstaff, Gabriel Gudmundsson, Anton Stach, and others have impressed.

Gabriel Gudmundsson explains why he is desperate to beat Spurs

Gudmundsson has enjoyed a superb start to his life at Leeds, albeit alongside something that left the left-back in tears. His own goal at Fulham will be remembered, but so should his impressive form on the left.

Leeds now face Tottenham on Saturday at Elland Road. Ally McCoist thinks Leeds have a chance to win the game, and Gudmundsson has told The YEP’s Graham Smyth why he is desperate to beat Tottenham.

The final game before the October break, Gudmundsson is desperate to avoid a defeat because he will have to endure a fortnight with Lucas Bergvall and teasing from injured Swedish star Dejan Kulusevski.

“Obviously a big game, also when we play at home at Elland Road, but I think for me because after we have international break and I have two [national team-mates] at Tottenham. Gudmundsson explained.

“I don’t want to end up in the national team [having] lost against them. Hopefully, we have a good result,” Gudmundsson continued, even if Kulusevski is not expected to be fit until the latter stages of 2025.

Leeds United’s injury concerns going into Tottenham clash

Jayden Bogle was fit and fine to face Bournemouth on Saturday, with Graham Smyth claiming Bogle has started better in the Premier League than he did last term. That is, after being trodden on at Wolves.

Dan James has suffered an ankle injury and is set to be out for the next few games, even if he has been called up to Wales’ squad. Willy Gnonto and Lucas Perri remain doubtful going into the Tottenham clash.

But elsewhere, and unless there are any surprises, the rest of the Leeds squad are ready to go ahead of the clash against Spurs. Leeds will fancy their chances against Thomas Frank’s side on Saturday.
