The headlines are currently being awarded to Sean Longstaff, Gabriel Gudmundsson, Anton Stach and even Dominic Calvert-Lewin, and rightly so, for their Leeds United form.
But the whole side is pulling in the right direction at the moment. Karl Darlow has stepped in and done well. Joe Rodon scored his first-ever Premier League goal on Saturday. He’s combining with Pascal Struijk.
Ethan Ampadu is, well, Ethan Ampadu. Brenden Aaronson got a standing ovation on Saturday, and rightly so, his hard work making Aaronson joint-third when it comes to blocking crosses in the Premier League.
Noah Okafor and Dominic Calvert-Lewin have scored two of Leeds’ six Premier League goals. But there is one player that Graham Smyth thinks has started better in the Premier League than in the Championship.

Graham Smyth raves about Jayden Bogle’s early Leeds form
When Leeds signed Bogle for £5m in the summer of 2024, Sheffield United fans were vocal in praising the right-back for his attacking work – but raised question marks about his ability to defend in the top tier.
Well, there have been no concerns while in a Leeds shirt. On The Square Ball, The Yorkshire Evening Post’s Graham Smyth believes Bogle has started better in the Premier League, than he did during 2024-25.
“He’s started in the Premier League better than he started in the Championship, last season. He’s had a better start to this season. Which is incredible. What I love is that he’s still dangerous at this level.
“A lot of Sheffield United fans had question marks about Jayden Bogle in the Premier League. He’s doing both sides really well. His ball carrying has transferred to this level. £5m, what a bit of business,” he said.
Jayden Bogle’s Leeds numbers this season and last season
What is clear from the numbers (below) is that Bogle’s defensive numbers have improved and duels have remained similar. That is largely because Leeds are defending more, and attacking less in the top tier.
| League | Games/ (Mins) | Tackles/pm | Interceptions and blocks (pm) | Duels won/pm | G+A/pm |
| PL | 6 (540) | 16 (33.8) | 9 (60.0) | 30 (18.0) | 1 (540.0) |
| Champ | 44 (3836) | 98 (39.1) | 39 (98.4) | 248 (15.5) | 11 (348.7) |
But that is a big compliment to Bogle, ridiculing previous misconceptions that he’d struggle to defend in the Premier League. He’s been faultless, yet to make a glaring error, which he did to start with last season.
Tackles are more often, interceptions and blocks are more often, duels are similar. Goals and assists have dropped, but it is not as if his attacking impact has dropped. He also scored in the Carabao Cup this term.
