Leeds United travel to Preston North End in the Championship this afternoon.
Leeds United make the trip to Deepdale for the early kick off in the Championship today.
Daniel Farke‘s side currently sit in 3rd place of the table and are seven points behind Ipswich Town in 2nd, though the Tractor Boys are at home to leaders Leicester City today.
Leeds have lost just one of their last 10 in the league after thumping Ipswich 4-0 at Elland Road in their last outing.
Preston meanwhile have plummeted down the table in recent weeks; they now sit in 13th after a run of one win in their last seven.
David Prutton predicts Preston vs Leeds United
Ahead of today’s game, Sky Sports pundit David Prutton made his prediction, writing:
“It has been a frustrating spell for Preston. They are in a good position in the table, but because they started the season so well it always feels difficult when it turns a little.
“Leeds will be feeling fantastic after their win over Ipswich. They can close the gap to four points, and know that Ipswich have to face Leicester later in the day. Things could get very interesting. Away win, and pressure on the Tractor Boys.”
Prutton predicts a 2-0 win for Leeds.
A routine win for Leeds at Preston?
Preston have been in freefall for the last few weeks, with Ryan Lowe seeing his side’s impressive start to the season fall apart after winning just three games since mid-September.
Leeds though have really picked up since then; Farke’s side blew away Ipswich last time out in arguably their most confident performance of the season, so right now is a bad time to play Leeds, whereas it’s probably a good time to play Preston.
So many will agree with Prutton’s verdict of today’s game, though it obviously won’t be an easy contest.
And although the pressure will be on Ipswich and Leicester later in the day, there’s still a degree of pressure on Leeds who’ll know they should be, and need to be winning these kind of games in their quest for promotion.
Preston will favour being the underdog here and there’d be no better time to half their poor run of form then today against a strong Leeds outfit.
Expect it to be a close-fought game with potentially very few goals in it; although Preston have conceded 18 in 12 games at home this season, Leeds have scored just 12 in their 11 away games in the Championship this season.
Today’s game kicks off a 12:30pm and will be shown live on Sky Sports.
