Leeds United will be eager to return to winning ways against Queens Park Rangers on Wednesday night.
The Whites’ good run of form came to a grinding halt at Southampton on Saturday as their five match unbeaten run was ended in a disappointing 3-1 defeat.
Daniel Farke opted to name an unchanged side from the one that defeated Watford 3-0 at Elland Road seven days early at St. Mary’s.
Ultimately, this proved to be a mistake by Farke and it would not be a surprise if he opted to make as many as four changes against QPR tomorrow.
So, with that in mind, we have taken a look at the decisions he will face.
Jamie Shackleton vs Luke Ayling
Shackleton kept his place at right-back on Saturday but struggled to replicate his performance against Watford as Kamaladeen Sulemana gave him a torrid afternoon.
Dependent on whether Sam Byram is fit to start again, it would not be a surprise if Ayling is brought back in on the right in place of Shackleton.
Ayling hasn’t been at his best so far this season but hopefully these two matches out of the side has given him some time to recharge the batteries.
Joe Rodon vs Liam Cooper
In hindsight, this really should’ve been a change made at the weekend but it feels inevitable that Rodon will come back in against QPR.
Leeds’ ability to play out from the back against a high press was really hampered by having two left-footers at centre-back, and so this is a mistake which can’t be repeated.
Pascal Struijk deserves to keep his place on the left meaning it is Cooper who has to drop out of the side in place of the Welshman.
Archie Gray vs Glen Kamara
Kamara was one of Leeds’ better performers at the weekend but it wouldn’t be a huge shock if Farke opted to freshen it up in midfield.
Gray was in need of a rest prior to the win over Watford 10 days ago and having started the last two on the bench, it feels likely he will return to the starting XI here.
Ilia Gruev is another option in there, but partnering him with Ethan Ampadu in a game against a side who are likely to sit very deep, feels a tad defensive.
Jaidon Anthony vs Dan James
Anthony has done more than enough in all of his four cameos off the bench to warrant his full Leeds debut.
The man to drop out should be James, who was extremely wasteful at Southampton, wasting some good opportunities with some poor decisions.
Anthony should come in on the left, pushing Crysencio Summerville over to the other side, who has shown more than James so far this season.
