Aberdeen star Duk was linked left, right and centre with clubs in the summer and Leeds United are said to have sent scouts to watch him – but since the links, he’s scored just four goals in 21 games.
Duk, 23, starred for Aberdeen last season having joined the club from Aberdeen in the summer of 2022. He scored 18 goals and laid on six more assists in 43 games last season. This season, form has dipped.
It comes after Mirror reporter Darren Witcoop said Leeds and Southampton sent scouts to watch Duk as Aberdeen lost 3-1 to Celtic at Pittodrie in August. Duk has admitted his dream is to move to England.
But since the scouts watched the Portuguese talent, Duk has really struggled. Just four goals in his 21 games, a rate of less than one goal every five. Far below his rate of almost one every two, last term.
He’s not been as good as he was last season, when he was Aberdeen’s top striker. Instead, that has been Bojan Miovski – scoring 11 goals in 22. He won a penalty against England for North Macedonia.
Leeds scouted Duk but he’s scored just four goals in 21 this term
Perhaps, Duk’s head has been turned. No surprises if his comments on using Aberdeen as a spring board to move to England, are still true. A player that teammate Jamie McGrath labelled “outstanding”.
Leeds have options up top – but you would imagine that Patrick Bamford could be tempted to leave come the end of the season. Mateo Joseph and Joe Gelhardt could choose to leave on loan in January.
But, Duk will hardly be on our radar now after a poor first half to the 2023-24 season. It is unlikely Leeds are going to be active in the January market on a huge scale – but a couple of additions could be made.
