Leeds United are set to be in the market for new left-back signings in the January transfer window as Daniel Farke looks to bolster his promotion-chasing side – here are five Premier League options.
Farke recently said that he knows the club needs to sign a new left-back. That is especially, after Sam Byram and Junior Firpo picked up injuries. Firpo is now back in Leeds training, but not ready tomorrow.
Leeds need a player they can rely on but the chances are it is going to be a loan in the winter window. Below, are five left-backs currently at Premier League clubs that Leeds could look to lure to Elland Road.
Ian Maatsen (Chelsea)
£31m-rated Maatsen starred for Burnley in their promotion campaign last season, having a hand in 10 goals in 42 games. The Mirror say he could go on loan – but he does have Premier League interest.
Charlie Taylor (Burnley)
The 30-year-old was linked with a return to Leeds in the summer – six years after leaving Elland Road. He finds himself in the last year of his Burnley deal, though, has started Burnley’s last 14 league games.
Ryan Giles (Luton)
Giles, 23, joined Luton in the summer from Wolves for £5m – with the expectation he’d be first choice after 12 assists at Middlesbrough last season. He’s since started just four Premier League matches.
Luke Chambers (Liverpool)
The 19-year-old was handed his fourth senior outing for Liverpool on Thursday night, but realistically, the England U20 man needs a loan. Is he good enough for Leeds yet? He could be more of a last resort.
Neco Williams (Forest)
Reports recently said that Leeds were keen on a move for £17m Williams in the summer. He has since started just four Premier League games, but he may be tempted on a move for more regular game time.
