‘First week’: Erik ten Hag refuses to rule out exit of 21-year-old wanted by Leeds

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has claimed he has not yet made a decision on the future of Amad Diallo amid interest from Leeds United.

Ten Hag was speaking to outlets including iNews after the 2-0 friendly win over Leeds in Oslo on Wednesday evening, where he was asked whether Diallo would still be at Man United next season.

Diallo played the first 45 minutes against the Whites, a side who are keen to bring him in on loan if they receive the green light, and looked impressive.

The 21-year-old played on the right in the friendly against Leeds and looked dangerous when cutting in onto his left foot, but can also play as a number 10.

It was the latter in which Diallo played regularly while on loan at Sunderland last season, where he scored an impressive 14 goals to help the Black Cats reach the play-off semi-finals.

Ten Hag unsure on future of Leeds target Diallo

Leeds, Southampton, Sunderland and a couple of Premier League sides are among those to have been linked with a move for Diallo this summer, who may struggle for game time due to the likes of Antony and Jadon Sancho.

However, ten Hag has insisted no decision has been made yet, with the Dutchman claiming it is too early to make decisions like this.

He said: “You don’t make conclusions after one week. Some of the young players impressed me, but I don’t want to single someone out.

“We are just in the first week, and I expected these levels and these performances. I will tell them during our sessions what I expect from them. How we judge the levels, the performance on Wednesday, what they have to work on. But after one week I never make conclusions.”

Diallo would be a superb signing and the perfect number 10 for Daniel Farke’s system, but it is difficult to see how this deal happens.

He has already proven at Sunderland he is more than good enough in the Championship and the next logical step in his development, should Man United want to send him out on loan, would be the Premier League.
