Fabrizio Romano has been quoted by Caught Offside as saying that the managerial situation at Leeds United will be “crucial” when it comes to the club attempting to keep Willy Gnonto at Elland Road – with plenty of clubs interested.
Gnonto, 19, has become a fan favourite at Leeds since arriving from Zurich on deadline day last summer. Playing 20 times, he has had a hand in seven goals largely from the left flank – scoring four goals and laying on three assists.
That form, along with his Italy exposure, has caught the attention of numerous clubs. Italian outlet GDS say Arsenal and Manchester City are keen on Gnonto, while 90Min say five Serie A clubs want him – including Milan and Napoli.
So, Leeds will be tested in the summer when it comes to Gnonto’s future. Romano states that Leeds trust Gnonto and are confident he will stay put. But the Italian journalist explains that the managerial situation will be “crucial”.
“I’m sure Leeds trust Gnonto for present and future, despite recent speculation over his future. Of course the coach situation will be crucial to understand what’s next for Gnonto, but the club and board 100% trust him,” Romano said.

Gnonto has been excellent for Leeds and the Italy star will now be worth at least 10 times the £4.5m fee Leeds paid to sign him. But even at that price there will be interest. Leeds have got to do everything in their power to keep him.
There have been a couple of brief occasions where Gnonto has looked frustrated under Gracia, who has benched him and took him off early against Wolves. But, Gracia is impressing. Keeping Gracia would surely keep Gnonto.
It will be interesting to see how Gnonto sees his future if Leeds decide not to keep Gracia in the summer. If Leeds go down, there is no doubt that Gnonto will be sold to a top-tier side. We need to keep him for as long as possible.
