Football website 90Min claim that Leeds United wonderkid Willy Gnonto is open to a return to his home country to play in Serie A – with five clubs keeping a close eye on the Italy star in recent weeks, including Juventus and Napoli.
Gnonto, 19, has been in exceptional form for Leeds since joining the club. In his 20 senior outings, the talented teen has had a hand in seven goals – scoring four times. One came at Old Trafford, a 2-2 draw with Manchester United.
Another, a gorgeous goal reminiscent of Paolo Di Canio’s West Ham scissor kick – in an FA Cup clash against Cardiff City. Such form is attracting plenty of suitors, despite Gnonto penning a contract until the summer of 2027 at Leeds.
Italian newspaper Gazzetta Dello Sport reported in the week that Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City were eyeing a move for Gnonto. Now, 90Min state that five clubs from the top tier of his native country are interested in Gnonto.
Indeed, current Champions AC Milan, current leaders Napoli, giants Juventus and both Atalanta and Jose Mourinho at Roma want Gnonto. It is unclear how much he would cost – but he is open to joining a Serie A side at some point.

Obviously, from a biased point of view, we think Gnonto should stay put. But realistically, if he joins one of the clubs listed as being interested – is he going to get the starting spot that he currently boasts at Elland Road?
If he joins a Juventus, a Roma, a Milan, a Napoli – he is going to be in and out of the team. A rotational option. His development, his progression, his wonderkid status begin to drift. As does, potentially, his place in the Italy side.
Gnonto, for now, is much better off remaining at Elland Road, continuing to excite the Elland Road crowd and the Premier League as a whole and perhaps pursuing a return to Italy in a year or two. But interest will be flattering.
