‘Excellent’: Daniel Farke says one Leeds defender ‘came through’ v Norwich

Archie Gray is a midfielder by trade, but Leeds United head coach Daniel Farke deployed him at right-back against Norwich City at Carrow Road.

And he was impressed.

Leeds United came from two goals down to beat Norwich City 3-2 away from home at Carrow Road in the Championship on Saturday afternoon.

Winger Crysencio Summerville was the star of the show for Leeds with two goals.

Archie Gray also featured for Leeds.

The 17-year-old is a midfielder by trade, but he has been playing at right-back.

Gray started at right-back against Norwich as well.

Leeds head coach Daniel Farke has noted that the England Under-19 international played well.

Leeds Live quotes Farke as saying about Gray: “Difficult game to defend experienced Onel Hernandez. 

“Lots of movements. After a few minutes, we take more risks. Last row we wanted to take more risks.

“Difficult for defenders. Archie was excellent. When I judge how they created their chances to score, took a few too many touches at a corner. Nothing to do with Archie. 

“Second goal not due to his positioning. yes, he has looked brighter when dominant and defended less.

“Second half defended in three-man defence and did well. Stopped Rowe.

“Have to go through difficult tasks to shine in the long term. Thank God he came through.”

Archie Gray a massive talent for Leeds United

I believe that Archie Gray is one of the best young players in the Championship and is a big player for Leeds United already.

Gray is only 17, but he has already become a regular for Leeds.

That Daniel Farke is playing the teenager at right-back despite him being a midfielder by trade shows just how good and versatile he is.

Gray has made 10 starts and two substitute appearances in the Championship so far this season.

The Leeds youngster has also played twice in the Carabao Cup for the Whites this campaign.

I do not think that Gray was particularly great against Norwich.

The teenager struggled to cope with the pressure that came down his side.

Gray looked tired in the second half, but he still gave his all and put in a great effort.
