Ethan Ampadu has admitted Leeds United were ‘a bit annoyed’ by a decision the EFL made amid the Championship run-in.

The good times keep rolling for Leeds United after they destroyed Bristol City 4-0 on Monday night in yet another dominant performance.

Ao Tanaka got the ball rolling before Joel Piroe spectacularly played Willy Gnonto through on goal to convert a second after the break.

Daniel Farke’s side looked as though they wouldn’t get the goals they deserved but a show-stealing cameo from Largie Ramazani saw him add two more in the final 10 minutes.

There were yet more wild celebrations at Elland Road at full-time following on from all the crazy scenes after Premier League promotion was confirmed on Easter Monday.

The squad and the fans didn’t get to celebrate inside the stadium together last week due to the fixture schedule, something Ethan Ampadu has admitted annoyed the players.

Ethan Ampadu wanted to celebrate Leeds’ promotion with fans last week

Leeds fans have been waiting a long time for the party they’ve been enjoying for the last week, with their last promotion to the Premier League in 2020 tarnished by the pandemic.

However, as Leeds played before the decisive clash between Burnley and Sheffield United last week, they were unable to confirm promotion themselves with fans in attendance.

It was the EFL’s decision to schedule the Easter Monday action in that way and Ampadu wasn’t best pleased with it.

The captain told Sky Sports when asked what it meant to celebrate with the supporters: “A lot.

“We celebrated like this after the last game, the last result, ourselves and our families, we’re a little bit annoyed that we had to play first because we wanted to celebrate with the fans.

“But I think we’re making up for it now.”

Stuart Dallas blown away by Leeds’ celebrations

Stuart Dallas was an integral member of the last Leeds team to gain promotion to the top flight under legendary manager Marcelo Bielsa.

The now-retired Dallas spent nine years as a Leeds player and enjoyed many a great night at Elland Road, but admitted he had never seen anything like the ‘unbelievable’ celebrations on Monday.

He said next to Ampadu on the pitch: “This is incredible.

“I’ve witnessed some special nights here at Elland Road but I haven’t witnessed anything like this here.

“It’s unbelievable. Everybody has stayed. Nobody has left. These players deserve it.

“So much pressure on these players to produce week in, week out to try and get back to the Premier League.”
