EFL make announcement ahead of Leeds United vs Swansea City and there can be no complaints

Daniel Farke will be hoping for a serious response from Leeds United after the international break.

It’s crunch time in the Championship, and Leeds cannot afford any more slip-ups after one win in four games.

Farke has key decisions in Leeds vs Swansea and may have to look at rotating a squad that hasn’t been firing on all cylinders recently.

Despite Swansea themselves not being in good form after just three wins in 14 games, Leeds tend to struggle against the lower sides in the league.

Farke can normally point the fingers before games, but he certainly can’t with this EFL decision.

EFL announce the referee for Leeds United vs Swansea City

Although the EFL have made plenty of blunders with refereeing appointments this season, this one certainly isn’t one of them.

Leeds have been at a disadvantage this season because of refereeing decisions, as Neil Warnock thought Leeds deserved a penalty vs Portsmouth.

This seemed like the overall consensus, but Farke might be fairly happy with the latest appointment.

Ben Toner will be the man in the middle on Saturday afternoon, and Farke can’t have any complaints.

Why Toner is a good appointment for Leeds against Swansea

Well, in a surprising fashion, Farke can’t complain too much with Toner’s appointment.

Even though at times Farke has been lost for words at announcements, this doesn’t fall into that category.

Toner has only refereed the Whites once this season as Leeds beat Michael Carrick’s Middlesbrough side 3-1, but this isn’t the reason why.

The reason being is that Toner was not afraid to dish out yellow cards to the opposition, which has been an alarming trend at Elland Road this season, especially in the Whites’ last two home games.

There have been 43 fouls and no yellow cards at Elland Road in those encounters, which makes for extraordinary reading.

Luckily for Farke, this trend will hopefully come to an end with Toner in charge, as he seemingly won’t be afraid to penalise the opposition for hacking down Leeds players.

With Leeds likely to have most of the ball in this game, it makes for promising signs, and for once, the EFL might have benefited Leeds.
