BBC commentator shares what Leeds staff member has been telling him about Joe Rodon recently

Joe Rodon has been near enough faultless for Leeds United since his loan move from Tottenham in the summer.

Rodon started for the 24th match in a row across all competitions for Leeds last night as they progressed through to the fifth round of the FA Cup at the expense of Plymouth Argyle.

Just like in the first match at Elland Road, Leeds were held to a 1-1 draw by their opponents after 90 minutes, but their strength in depth told in the end as they ran out 4-1 winners after extra-time.

Leeds have now won seven of their eight matches since the turn of the New Year and Rodon has been pivotal to that success, with calls growing ever louder for him to be signed permanently.

Speaking live on air during Leeds’ win last night, BBC commentator Jonathan Pearce says he was told by someone at the club yesterday just how good he has been since his run in the side.

He said: “Back it goes to Joe Rodon, who was described to me earlier on today by someone from Leeds as immense for them so far on loan from Tottenham. Started 24 games in a row, and they told me he’s played the last 23 of them very well.”

Rodon perhaps didn’t enjoy one of his better games in a Leeds shirt last night but in all fairness, the conditions were an absolute nightmare for anyone defensively.

However, the 26-year-old just continues to get better in the league and has been described as ‘too good’ for the Championship on occasions so far this season.

Daniel Farke has already admitted Leeds are working behind-the-scenes to sign him on a permanent basis in the summer, which would be excellent business regardless of the division they are playing in.

Rodon himself is also clearly enjoying his time at Leeds with so much regular football and it is very much reflected in his performances on the pitch.
