Leeds United desperately need a win against Luton Town on Saturday lunchtime to get their push for automatic promotion back on track – but a Daniel Farke stat will concern supporters.
One win in five and just six points in that period has left Leeds in second place, surrendering a five-point lead over Sheffield United. The Whites are now level on points with all-conquering Burnley, in third.
Scott Parker’s men are unbeaten since November 3, but they go to Coventry City at the same time as The Whites take to the pitch. Leeds need a win, but Luton are in form and The Hatters have key players back.
However, this is a side that sit 23rd in the Championship table and Leeds will be expected to go to Luton and pick up three points. But Daniel Farke’s history against Luton will concern Leeds supporters.

Daniel Farke has never won against Luton at Kenilworth Road
In four career appearances as a manager against Luton, Farke has won twice and lost twice but those two losses have come away at Kenilworth Road. Both, during his time as Norwich City boss in the second tier.
Indeed, Farke has only ever faced Luton once as Leeds manager and that resulted in a 3-0 win at Elland Road. A game that saw Sam Byram score a scissor kick, while Joel Piroe and Dan James also netted.
With the pressure of the promotion run-in, Luton’s good form and Leeds’ poor run of results and now Farke’s record against Luton coming to light, Saturday’s outing at Kenilworth Road will be a tricky one.
Farke’s record vs Luton:
| Date | Club | Competition | Venue | Result |
| September 5, 2020 | Norwich | Carabao Cup | Kenilworth Road | 3-1 Loss |
| December 2, 2020 | Norwich | Championship | Kenilworth Road | 3-1 Loss |
| March 6, 2021 | Norwich | Championship | Carrow Road | 3-0 Win |
| November 27, 2024 | Leeds | Championship | Elland Road | 3-0 Win |
Injury news as Leeds United prepare to take on Luton Town
Last week, Daniel Farke confirmed Ethan Ampadu, Max Wober and Patrick Bamford were back in training. Ampadu went on to start while Wober and Bamford were not included as they continue their comeback.
Willy Gnonto was a doubt but he came off the bench to score, and Graham Smyth expects Gnonto to start against Luton. Luton meanwhile, welcomed back three players in the win over Hull last Saturday.
Reece Burke, Amari’i Bell and Tahith Chong were fit again to play with Burke last starting in the 3-0 loss to Leeds. However, they are without as many as five players including Marvelous Nakamba and Jacob Brown.
