Wilfried Gnonto’s goal sent Leeds United to the top of the Championship table on Sunday afternoon as The Whites secured a late 4-3 win over Swansea City in Wales.

A game that saw Leeds go behind twice, and then take the lead twice. Crucially, the game finished after Leeds had taken the lead, with Manor Solomon scoring twice and Ben Cabango scoring an own goal.

Harry Darling, Liam Cullen and Florian Bianchini scored for Swansea but it was not enough for Luke Williams’ side. Swansea boss Williams admits that Leeds deserved to win, but Swansea gave it a right go.

In the midst of all the drama, Daniel Farke handed a debut to a third Thorp Arch academy product after giving Sam Chambers and Charlie Crew some game time in the win over Plymouth, in James Debayo.

Daniel Farke hammers three Leeds subs during Swansea win

Farke has often been criticised for his substitutes and the timing of those, but they worked on Sunday. Gnonto scored the winner and that is enough for Farke to say that he did the right things off the bench.

But, he was not happy with three of his substitutes on Sunday. In the second 45, the Leeds boss was seen speaking to fitness coach Chris Domogalla about the urgency and intensity of the subs on the touchline.

Leeds Live reported that Farke was ‘not happy’, and then made the point by himself to trio Charlie Crew, Debayo and Largie Ramazani before he brought Debayo on for the final few minutes against Swansea.

Daniel Farke knows what it takes to get teams promoted

Farke has his critics, but it must be remembered that this is a manager who knows how to get teams promoted from the Championship. He knows what to do, how to get the best out of his players.

The German is clever, and has an assurance of always being in control. He knows what he must do to get this side back in the Premier League and that clearly, is putting high standards on these Leeds players.

Regardless, of whether they are playing or on the bench. He is not going to carry passengers, he wants everyone doing everything they can at every possible moment to reach that end goal of promotion.

Crew, Debayo and the slightly-more senior Ramazani should know better when Farke is the man in the dugout, and when promotion is the aim. But now, they know, and Farke’s anger will serve as a reminder.
