Swansea manager shares whether he thinks Leeds United actually deserved to win

Swansea City boss Luke Williams has delivered his verdict on Leeds United’s last-gasp 4-3 win in the Championship.

The Whites won a topsy turvy affair in South Wales to climb to the top of the division for the first time all season.

Daniel Farke‘s side were forced to come from behind twice as goals from Manor Solomon and Ben Cabango (own goal) made it 2-2 around the hour-mark.

Solomon’s second of the afternoon then looked as though it had sealed all three points for Leeds until Florian Bianchini’s volley made it 3-3 in stoppage time.

But just a matter of seconds later, James picked up his third assist of the match as he sent Wilfried Gnonto through on goal, who showed composure to pick up the three points.

Luke Williams shares if Leeds deserved to beat Swansea

Swansea boss Williams was very complementary of Leeds in his pre-match press conference, claiming Farke’s side are destined to finish in the top two.

Having said that, Swansea are arguably the first side all season to have attempted to go toe-to-toe with Leeds and caused plenty of problems, but left plenty of space in behind for the likes of James to explore.

Swansea had scored just 11 goals all season prior to kick off today and despite finding the net three times today, Williams told Sky Sports post-match that Leeds did deserve to win.

He said: “It was a close game but they deserved to beat us in the end. It was unusual but for us to have so many goals in the game, it was a very high level. Unfortunately we were the wrong side of it. For the most part, we did really well.

“We tried to establish ourselves in the game but they don’t make too many mistakes and we paid the price. The goals were not offside so not frustrated by it.

“This is the best team in the division and to be able to score against them like we did, is a real positive. We have to get on with winning more games now. Not all the teams are at that level. Results are coming, I have no doubt about that.”

Leeds bat aside questions of entertainment under Daniel Farke

One of the biggest criticisms aimed at Farke this season has been the lack of entertainment in the football, but the same cannot be said after that.

Both Ethan Ampadu and Jayden Bogle were question about the style of play over the international break and that game proves how much of an impact the opposition has.

As mentioned, the vast majority of sides who face Leeds are happy to sit on the edge of their own box, which is why the football is often slow.

But with Swansea pushing up higher, Leeds were able to get in behind on countless occasions to score four goals.
