Daniel Farke will be optimistic ahead of Saturday afternoon’s Yorkshire derby at Hull City with many elements swaying the way of Leeds United

Leeds will be hoping to extend their unbeaten run to eight games on Saturday as Farke will be hoping to extend their three-point gap at the top of the Championship.

Reaction will definitely be warranted after Leeds’ 1-1 draw at home to Blackburn Rovers and they find themselves in a strong position going into the Hull encounter.

Leeds United handed a boost against an injury-stricken Hull City side

Leeds aren’t exactly shying away from injuries recently after Sam Byram and Jayden Bogle were both substituted in the encounter against Blackburn.

However, Farke hopes to have Byram and Bogle available for Leeds’ trip to Hull, this comes alongside the good news that Junior Firpo is close to completing his rehab.

The same can’t be said for Hull, however, as Leeds have hit the jackpot in terms of facing Hull at their weakest.

Liam Millar who was linked with a move to Leeds in the summer and another ex-Leeds transfer target, Mohamed Belloumi, remain out after the pair have suffered ACL injuries.

Adding to this, Ryan Longman, Carl Rushworth, Charlie Hughes, Kasey Palmer, and Oscar Zambrano will not be available, which gives Farke a huge advantage going into Saturday.

Daniel Farke believes Hull City encounter will be ‘tricky’

When you look at the layout of this fixture it seems a no-brainer that Leeds will triumph, but Selles has built some positive foundations for the Tigers over the Christmas period since his arrival.

Daniel Farke has been aware of these foundations and is adamant it will be a tricky fixture despite Hull’s limited options.

Speaking to the media on Thursday (3:45), Farke assessed what could be a difficult encounter.

“It’s always tricky when a new manager comes in and brings new ideas in. Even after a few more weeks, you see more changes. It will be a different Hull side in comparison to what we faced at Elland Road.

“They have got quality players and have really good options in the offence. Of course, they will be disappointed with the first half of their season but I’m pretty sure they will try to use this home game to win important points. We are aware they will be a threat.”

Leeds will know they will have to be at their best as Selles’ side won’t back down in front of a lively MKM Stadium.
