Paraag Marathe was in attendance on Wednesday night as Leeds defeated Chelsea.

The Chairman of Leeds was presumably casting an eye over Daniel Farke and his side after a run of four consecutive defeats – reports even claimed Gary O’Neil had been shortlisted as a possible replacement.

An impressive 3-1 win managed to ease some pressure on the German, who has now told Sky Sports what he and Paraag Marathe did after that victory.

Daniel Farke and Paraag Marathe in good spirits after “great night” for Leeds United against Chelsea

Speaking to Sky Sports, the 49-year-old has now said: “Yes of course (there was time for a celebratory chat) about the game, so we gave ourselves a hug and we’re happy with the result, happy with the performance. It was a great night for everyone who’s connected with Leeds United.”

In the days leading up to the match, a story from the Guardian claimed that the 49ers were ready to dismiss Farke if he lost to both Chelsea and Liverpool – while also mentioning alleged disagreements over recruitment at Elland Road between the manager and ownership.

It made the situation at Leeds seem quite toxic, but the fact Farke and Marathe shared a hug and chatted amicably after beating Chelsea suggests things are better than the Guardian made out.

Daniel Farke still has work to do to remove internal pressure at Leeds United

Despite causing Manchester City and Chelsea trouble with his new 3-5-2 formation, the Leeds boss still has work to do.

Daniel Farke had some worries over Ao Tanaka – do you think he needs to be rested against Liverpool?🤔

Sami Mokbel of the BBC claimed after the win over Chelsea that some doubts remain over Farke in the boardroom at Elland Road, and potential replacements are being lined up with Leeds only two points above the relegation zone.

It is not as alarming a situation as it was seven days ago, but clearly, Farke needs a win or two more to completely end speculation over his future for now.
