Leeds United manager Daniel Farke has sent an emphatic message to the 49ers with one of the “great weeks” for the club, according to Graham Smyth.
Daniel Farke came into the game against Manchester City under significant pressure, having overseen a run of four straight defeats.
Reports after that defeat, which saw Leeds take a step in the right direction, suggested that Gary O’Neill was being lined up as a potential replacement should Farke suffer heavy defeats against Chelsea and Liverpool.
However, four points from those two games lifted Leeds out of the Premier League relegation zone and breathed new life into their faltering survival campaign.
According to Smyth, Farke has sent an emphatic message to the 49ers in the process, after presiding over a thrilling week for Leeds fans.
Daniel Farke’s job is safe for now, can he get a result against Brentford? 🔮
Daniel Farke has lifted the pressure on his Leeds United future
Speaking on the Inside Elland Road podcast, Smyth explained why he believes Farke has enjoyed one of the best weeks in his managerial career.
Despite public assurances from the 49ers, reports suggested that Farke was running out of time to turn things around at Leeds.
According to Smyth, he has done that in style, as he stated: “This was a week that could have ended him, genuinely could have ended Daniel Farke, for all that the 49ers will say, we’ve always had faith in our manager, we’re backing our manager, we’re backing the plan.
“They definitely went into these three games knowing that had he lost the crowd, had he lost all three, had they been battered in all three, if he had not been sacked, then defeat against Brentford would surely have done it because of the length of the losing streak. And because of what all those losses would have meant for public confidence in him.

“But instead, he’s got this team that is fighting tooth and nail for him. He’s just given Elland Road, he’s given an away end at Man City, something to be proud of and something to cheer.
“Which is in direct contrast to away at Forest. And then he’s given Elland Road two of the great nights, one of the great weeks in a manager’s tenure, really, certainly in his tenure. What a turnaround.”

Daniel Farke will know things are not going to get easier for Leeds United
Although Leeds have navigated arguably their most difficult run of fixtures to date with some ease, Farke cannot afford to allow his players to think things are going to get easier immediately.
While Leeds’ next five fixtures may present opportunities on paper, the Whites cannot afford to take anything for granted in another crucial period in the season.
How many points can Leeds get from the next five games? 🔮
Leeds face a Brentford side who have lost just once at home so far this season, before welcoming high-flying Crystal Palace to Elland Road.
A difficult trip to Sunderland is followed by a trip to Anfield, before a mouthwatering home clash with Manchester United in the new year.
Aside from Brentford, all of Leeds’ upcoming opponents sit in the top half of the Premier League as things stand. Four points from five games would represent a respectable return for Farke. Anything else is a bonus.
