Daniel Farke has shared an injury update on his Leeds United squad ahead of the upcoming trip to Millwall.
Leeds were without a number of key stars in the 3-0 win over Plymouth Argyle on Saturday, none of which are expected to return anytime soon.
Ethan Ampadu, Largie Ramazani and Ilia Gruev are all still recovering from long-term injury lay-offs, while Jayden Bogle was also out due to suspension.
Bogle will return to Leeds’ squad at the Den and will be hoping for a place in the starting XI at right-back ahead of Sam Byram, who has played 90 minutes in each of the last two.
Farke had the luxury of bringing off the likes of Brenden Aaronson, Joe Rothwell, Wilfried Gnonto and Dan James early against Argyle, which should mean they are fresh for this one.
Farke shares Patrick Bamford and Joe Gelhardt injury update
On top of the longer term injury absentees, Patrick Bamford and Joe Gelhardt were also absent from the win over Plymouth.
Bamford had been struggling with an adductor issue last week but did have a chance of being fit, until he came down with illness on matchday.
Gelhardt, meanwhile, picked up a hip problem in training ahead of the weekend and so was also out of the squad entirely, which will have been a disappointment for him.
Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Farke was asked to share an injury update on his Leeds squad ahead of Millwall, confirming late decisions would be made on both players.
He said: “No new injury concerns. Some late decisions with Patrick Bamford and Joffy Gelhardt. We’ll have a final session this afternoon, both will try and train and we’ll take a decision who is in the squad.”
Farke on Sam Byram and Jayden Bogle dilemma
Farke’s biggest selection dilemma on Wednesday night comes at right-back amid Bogle’s return to the squad.
Byram produced an impressive performance against Plymouth, but Bogle had started every league game prior to that. Farke refused to give anything away on who he’ll pick.
He said: “Overall, I was really happy and pleased with both of Sam’s performances. Not easy when you’re not that much in your rhythm, on the left then the right. Two excellent performances, he’s chipped in. It’s always good when there’s competition.
“Jayden, before his suspension, he was excellent. Junior has also chipped in with many end products. All three are available and we’ll see who we pick. Sam we have to keep in mind it’s sometimes a bit more tricky when the turnaround is quick.”
