Neil Harris has not been afraid to share his excitement at Millwall’s upcoming clash with Leeds United.
Harris’ side ran out 1-0 winners over Burnley at the weekend and since the full-time whistle has really talked up the prospect of welcoming Leeds to the Den.
Leeds won away at Millwall for the first time in six attempts last season but Harris has a good record against the Whites both as a player and manager.
In 15 meetings, Harris has won on eight occasions and is clearly no stranger to having what it takes to get up for a game like this.
Both sides are in good form heading into it, with Millwall unbeaten in their last five, and Leeds not having lost in almost two months.
Harris shares why Millwall vs Leeds has ‘added spice’
Harris came up against Leeds at Elland Road last season when Millwall’s season was all but over. This time around, the same cannot be said.
Millwall sit one place outside of the Championship’s play-off places and can move to within four points of Leeds with a win. It has been a long time since the two sides entered into this fixture both competing at the top.
Speaking straight after Millwall’s win over Burnley, Harris was asked about the upcoming fixture with Leeds and how much he’d have relished playing in it.
The 47-year-old admitted he would love to get his boots on, on Wednesday night due to the ‘added spice’ the fixture has from both teams being in great form.
He said: “Yeah I’d love to play, I’d love to play Wednesday against Leeds. It’s a brilliant occasion here at the Den, it’s a big game. People that aren’t connected to the two clubs don’t quite get the rivalry considering we’re so far away.
“But it is a huge game, the atmosphere will be brilliant. They’re obviously a really good side, there’s added spice from that but we’ll just attack the game because we’re 10 points in four games, conceded five goals in 11 games.
“We’ve got real structure and discipline, but I’ve got some really good players as well that can create out of nothing.”
Sam Parkin predicts Millwall vs Leeds score
Leeds are going to have to be at their very best to come away with all three points at the Den, even after such a solid run of form.
Millwall will be right up for it and are full of confidence themselves, though EFL pundit Sam Parkin still believes it will be Leeds who come out on top.
He said: “I think Millwall have been excellent, I think they are up to seventh, aren’t they? Which is incredible. They are looking really creative as well.
“I think those numbers [in the] early part of the season are showing that there are quite a lot of truth in that they are a much better attacking force this season with the new-look attack.
I think they will score, but difficult for the lads to raise themselves time and time again when you have not got the depth of maybe a Leeds and the other teams they are battling against. I will go for Leeds, narrowly 2-1 away win.”
