Daniel Farke faced the media on Monday morning ahead of Tuesday night’s clash against Plymouth in The FA Cup – and he says Leeds United star Jamie Shackleton could be missing due to illness.

Shackleton, 24, has been regularly involved for Leeds throughout the entire campaign. It comes after a difficult loan at Millwall in which he was in and out of the starting line-up. His deal is due to end in June.

But he impressed in pre-season and caught the eye of manager Farke. He has regularly used the Leeds-born midfielder, whether that be on the right wing, left-back, right-back or in the middle of the park.

His agent spoke towards the end of last season, predicting that he would leave Leeds permanently but instead – Shackleton has stayed put. He will have been looking forward to a start on Tuesday night.

Leeds face Plymouth in a fourth round FA Cup replay at Argyle, after Shackleton started the 1-1 draw at Elland Road. However, Shackleton is unlikely to be available – Farke stating Shackleton has an illness.

“Sadly, a major doubt is Jamie Shackleton with illness – we still have 24 hours. But it is not possible for him to train today, all the other players came through without injuries,” Farke told the Club’s YouTube.

Shackleton joins Pascal Struijk, Stuart Dallas and Dan James in the missing the trip down south – while Connor Roberts is cup-tied. It looks as if Archie Gray will be the one who starts on the right of defence.

Willy Gnonto could continue out wide after scoring against Bristol City, while you would also imagine that Jaidon Anthony will come in. Ilia Gruev, Glen Kamara and Ethan Ampadu will surely continue to play.
