Daniel Farke impressed by attitude of one Leeds player against Hull, praises ‘excellent’ work rate

Daniel Farke has heaped praise on Leeds United winger Crysencio Summerville after dropping him from the XI at Hull City on Wednesday night – only to bring him on after 20 minutes to replace Willy Gnonto.

A frustrating night for Leeds. Another clean sheet, and without defeat in the league for five games, since the 1-0 defeat to Birmingham City on August 12. Gnonto picked up an injury, and Joe Rodon got a red.

Two yellows – the first of which is incredibly harsh. It means at Watford, Leeds will be without two very important players. But, Dan James, Jaidon Anthony and Summerville can come in for the Italy winger.

Also, Liam Cooper came off the bench last night – meaning he is back, so Rodon’s absence is actually well-timed in a way. Summerville was left on the bench at Hull as Farke gave Welsh winger James a run.

But Summerville was on the pitch after 21 minutes – and Farke heaped praise on the Netherlands U21 star. A player that Burnley bid £20m for in August, as per Fabrizio Romano. He applauded his attitude.

“Perfect reaction to being left out. Difficult pre-season, some issues. Made sense three games in six. Brought him in earlier than I wanted, excellent reaction. On and off ball. Worked so hard for the team.”

Farke heaps praise on Summerville after dropping him at Hull

It will be interesting to see where Farke goes on Saturday. The chances are that Gnonto will be absent for the Elland Road clash against Watford and even if fit – he might be rested with a spot on the bench.

So, it will be between Summerville, Anthony and James to start. Anthony is yet to win a start for us, and that might see him remain on the bench with Summerville and James out wide. Headache for Farke.
