Leeds United were without defender Pascal Struijk for the 3-0 win against Sheffield Wednesday on Sunday. It could be the first of a handful of games without the Dutchman, or it could be the first of many.

Before the visit of Sheffield Wednesday to Elland Road, Daniel Farke dropped a bit of an injury bombshell in his Friday press conference, revealing another injury for Pascal Struijk.

Farke revealed that Leeds vice-captain Struijk has a hamstring injury. The Leeds boss also said that another scan is needed, with the club’s medical staff fearful that Struijk may have done damage to his tendon.

That could sideline the Dutchman for three months rather than the three weeks that Farke is currently hoping for.

Ethan Ampadu partnered Joe Rodon at the back for Leeds’ 3-0 win against Sheffield Wednesday. The pair proved solid as the Whites claimed an impressive 15th clean sheet in the Championship.

Daniel Farke shares Pascal Struijk injury update

Speaking after the game, Farke was asked for more clarity on Struijk’s injury. He initially revealed the news on Friday before then saying that the club needed to wait for the fluid to clear in Struijk’s injured area, so that another scan can reveal the full extent.

Speaking to Leeds Live, Farke suggested that for now at least, it’s looking like Struijk may have avoided a tendon injury, and that he could be sidelined for just three weeks rather than three months.

“We will have a scan in the middle of next week,” Farke began. “We need to get rid of the fluid before. At the moment it looks to be more like three or four weeks.”

Leeds United may have another injury worry after Sheffield Wednesday

Whilst discussing Struijk’s fitness, Farke then revealed another potential worry for Leeds United following their win over Sheffield Wednesday.

Brenden Aaronson was forced off late on in the game but Farke has seemingly played down any significant injury for the American, who may have just taken a knock.

Farke explained: “He had a hit in the first half but was able to carry on. It became more painful as the game went on. He’s a strong boy.”

Leeds United are now back in 1st place of the Championship table after losing the top spot briefly to Sheffield United.

Next up for the Whites is a home game against Farke’s former employers Norwich City at Elland Road on Wednesday night.
